Methodology
The Suburbtrends Vacancy Index (SVI) measures rental vacancy counts against a rolling 12-month base period (February 2025 = 100). SVI below 100 = market tightened (fewer vacancies, harder for renters). SVI above 100 = market loosening (more vacancies, easing for renters). SA2 vacancy rates represent current-month vacant stock as a percentage of total rental stock. The SVI trajectory sparkline on each card shows the parent SA3-level index.
